Stephan Decher, Co-Founder of ZAZ Ventures

  • Stephan Decher is a Co-Founder of ZAZ Ventures, the European innovation funding experts and has been involved in the clean-tech financing sector over the past 10 years.

    As Partner in Clean Capital, Stephan has conducted a number of seed and series A venture deals, most notably the $3m investment by Castrol InnoVentures into Danish Greensteam. With the emergence of the €800m a year SME Instrument he has increased focus to Horizon2020 funding opportunities for Europe’s most innovative SMEs.

    Prior to Clean Capital and ZAZ Ventures, Stephan has spent his career in market intelligence and software in both the fossil energy and clean energy industries. He was a commodities analyst for S&P Platt’s, then a Key Account Manager for Central and Eastern Europe with the ETRM software house KWI, now part of Global Energy, before joining New Energy Finance (today Bloomberg New Energy Finance) as its Commercial Director.

    Stephan holds an MBA from London Business School (2002-2004) and a Masters level degree in economics and business administration from Mannheim University, Germany. He speaks fluent German (mother tongue), Italian and English.
